"The Project House" - Bathroom
|
|
| The bathroom was a complete remodel. There were some keys things I wanted to accomplish with this room: add a shower, update the tile, and replace the vanity. To accomplish the task of adding a shower and updating the tile, my Dad and I had to take half the walls down to the lath, as we did in the kitchen. Dwight Sonnenberg once again helped us out by adding “the tallest shower in the Twin Cities” as he described it. I’m 6’4” and was tired of bending over in the shower so I told him to move the shower head up and he did. I think it turned out great down to the counter top tiles we found to make the curve on the edge of the tub. Finding a shower curtain tall enough has been the hardest part. I have an extra long 84” liner but maybe I’ll have to take up sewing next to find a long enough curtain. |

Before - (notice the great pink tiles... and they were plastic to top it off)

It was quite a bit of work to update the bathroom but I got a lot of satifaction out of working on it from start to finish.

| To create this transformation we had to first tear the walls down to the lath, put up cement board, mud the board, set the tiles and finally grout all the tiles (floor to ceiling in some spots). | |

| Setting more tiles... | My Dad had the great idea to use countertop tiles to wrap over the edge of the cement board we had to wall off the tub with...it turned out great. |
